Andreas Pohl, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Hypo, has decided not to extend his expiring contract. Therefore, he will leave the Bank on 28 February 2018.
„The decision to leave Deutsche Hypo was an extremely difficult one to make. I love my job and always liked working for the NORD/LB group as well as the Deutsche Hypo. The fact that Deutsche Hypo is doing so well today is the merit of all employees of our bank. I am happy that my colleagues on the Board of Managing Directors and I have influenced the successful development of Deutsche Hypo over the last ten years,” explains Pohl. “It correlates with my personal scheme of life to go into retirement now: Moreover, it is important to me to spend more time and activities with my family.”
Thomas S. Bürkle, Chairman of Deutsche Hypo’s Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NORD/LB, stated: “We are beyond thankful for Andreas Pohl’s extraordinary accomplishments for the NORD/LB group. Over the course of the last decades, he built up and significantly shaped the commercial real-estate financing of NORD/LB, making it one of the bank’s most distinguished business segments. We will decide about the future composition of Deutsche Hypo’s Board of Managing Directors at a given time.”
Pohl (60) has been working for the NORD/LB since 1979. After completing his apprenticeship as a bank employee he took upon various roles and leading positions in NORD/LB’s wholesale business and commercial real-estate financing department. Since 2002, he has functioned as the real-estate banking division manager while also taking over as Global Head of NORD/LB’s commercial real-estate financing in 2006 – a role he holds until today. In 2008, Pohl switched to Deutsche Hypo and was responsible for commercial real-estate financing on the market side of the Board of Managing Directors. After functioning as speaker of the Board of Managing Directors between 2014 and 2016, he has been serving as Deutsche Hypo’s Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors since 1 July 2016. Additionally, Pohl exercises two other mandates: On the one hand, he has been a member of the German Property Federation (ZIA) since 2014. On the other hand, as a member of the Board of Managing Directors, he has also been taking upon responsibilities for the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) since 2016.
