- Dr. Jürgen Allerkamp leaves the bank,
- Thomas Bürkle to take over as Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors
The Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors Dr. Jürgen Allerkamp is set to leave Deutsche Hypothekenbank on 30 June 2012. At its meeting yesterday the bank’s Supervisory Board accepted his request to prematurely release him from his office. His departure takes place by amicable and mutual agreement. The Supervisory Board has now appointed Thomas Bürkle from NORD/LB to succeed Dr. Allerkamp as Chairman of the Deutsche Hypo Board of Managing Directors with effect as of 1 July 2012.
Dr. Allerkamp cited differing viewpoints on Deutsche Hypo’s strategic integration into the NORD/LB Group as the reason for his decision. He now wishes to pursue fresh professional challenges. “Dr. Jürgen Allerkamp has played a key role in helping establish Deutsche Hypo as a highly reputable address in the sphere of real estate financing and capital market business”, said Dr. Gunter Dunkel, Chairman of Deutsche Hypo’s Supervisory Board and of the Board of Management of NORD/LB.
Deutsche Hypo’s Supervisory Board notes Dr. Allerkamp’s decision with regret. He has an extremely distinguished record of service for and with Deutsche Hypo and the NORD/LB Group over the past years, and the Supervisory Board thanks him for his great commitment and wishes him the very best for his professional and private future.
Dr. Allerkamp has chaired Deutsche Hypo’s Board of Managing Directors since February 2010. Before that, he spent twelve years as member of the Board of Management of NORD/LB, on which his responsibilities included the spheres of Finances and Real Estate Banking. Previous stages in the 56-year-old doctor of law and political science’s career included spells with WestLB and Stadtsparkasse Dresden.
Thomas Bürkle, who takes over as Chairman of Deutsche Hypo’s Board of Managing Directors on 1 July 2012, already has long years of managerial experience in the NORD/LB Group: having occupied the positions of Chairman of the Board of Management of NORD/LB’s subsidiary in Lithuania and General Manager of NORD/LB’s New York branch, the 59-year-old master of economics then took over as CEO of the DnB NORD joint venture in Copenhagen in 2009. At present he is responsible for NORD/LB’s RWA management.
“Thomas Bürkle has an in-depth knowledge of NORD/LB, and has already impressively demonstrated his managerial qualities many times over”, stressed Dr. Dunkel. “My Supervisory Board colleagues and I have no doubts whatsoever that Thomas Bürkle will head Deutsche Hypo successfully as Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors. We wish him all the very best in his new position and look forward to our cooperation with him in the future.”
