Today, Deutsche Hypothekenbank has successfully issued a 7-year Mortgage Pfandbrief in benchmark format. The volume of the issue is EUR 500 million and has a coupon of 1.375 percent. The issue price is 99.762 percent which corresponds to a spread of +5 basis points over mid-swap.
The collateral pool consists of mortgage loans of commercial real estate customers in the core markets Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and France. Within the order period of 1.5 hours more than 30 orders with a total volume of EUR 600 million were received. The investors consisted of central and commercial banks, asset managers, funds and insurers from German speaking countries, Central Europe and Asia. The issue was launched by the joint-lead managers BayernLB, Crédit Agricole CIB, Commerzbank, DZ Bank and NORD/LB. “For this issue we have opted for a 7-year Mortgage Pfandbrief at this point in time, since at the current low interest rate environment it was the shortest maturity with a spread premium for German Pfandbriefe”, stresses Dirk Schönfeld, Head of Treasury at Deutsche Hypo.
Deutsche Hypo, a 140-year-old Pfandbrief bank, is one of the renowned issuers in the market. The bank plans a funding volume of around EUR 5.1 billion for 2013 compared to approximately EUR 4.2 billion in 2012. Deutsche Hypo issues Pfandbriefe as well as unsecured bearer and registered bonds.
